Good neighbors make great neighborhoods! National Good Neighbor Day, September 28, celebrates the importance of a good neighbor and creates an opportunity for neighbors to get to know each other better.
2020 has been a difficult year for many and we’ve heard countless heartwarming stories and examples of residents stepping up to help each other. National Good Neighbor Day is a great opportunity to continue those efforts and pledge to be a “good neighbor,” becoming part of a more connected and caring community.
Great neighborhoods are built on 5 basic pillars:
- Connection — Introduce yourself to your neighbors.
- Invitation — Invite neighbors to join you in activities, community projects, or even a simple meal.
- Celebration — Recognize, congratulate, or just cheer neighbors on for important milestones.
- Awareness — Keep your eyes and ears open, staying attentive to the safety and security of your neighborhood.
- Availability — Care for your neighbors. Show kindness and offer assistance when needed.
