Saddlebrook News

In Texas April showers bring roofing, pest control and other businesses to our doors (and May flowers). These uninvited visitors can range from annoying to scary and many in our neighborhood do not want strangers coming to their doors.

There is good news! The City of Colleyville has very strict rules regarding those who may solicit within the city limits. The following excerpts are taken from the city website and the Colleyville Police Department Solicitation Guidelines (click here to view):

Anyone going house to house or place to place soliciting, selling, or taking order for services, goods, wares, or merchandise must have a permit from the City of Colleyville. That permit must be displayed and clearly visible to the public and distributors must wear orange traffic safety vests.
Soliciting is only allowed Monday – Saturday from 9 a.m. until dusk (30 minutes after sunset).

Solicitors may only approach your front door.
Residents may place “No Soliciting” signs near their front door.
Any owner or lawful occupant of any residence may post signage, prohibiting solicitation on their premises. Solicitors must not solicit homes where such signage is displayed.

Please contact the police department at 817.503.1200 if you have any questions.

Residents may also list themselves on the City’s “No Knock List.” Solicitors are supposed to adhere to the list and NOT approach homes on the list. About half of our neighborhood is on the “No Knock List.” (Click here to view the list)

If you are looking for a little company, there is also a “Solicitors Welcome” list that makes it clear to our door to door friends that you wish to talk with them.

While Colleyville is one of the safest cities in the area, it is important to remain vigilant and wary of strangers at your door. Remember, you are not obliged to answer your door and if you see something that makes you feel unsafe contact the Colleyville Police Department.
