At the May 12 City Council meeting, an ordinance was approved allowing golf cart operation in Colleyville with certain restrictions.
Here are the details:
DRIVERS:
– Must have a license & insurance
OPERATING & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
– Must obey all state and local traffic and parking laws
– Operation restricted to daylight hours
– Certain safety equipment required (ex. side mirrors, blinkers, brake lights)
– License plate required
– Passengers must all be seated with a seatbelt; no pets in driver’s lap
WHERE PERMITTED:
– Only on Local Streets, as defined in the City’s Master Thoroughfare Plan (shown in black on the map)
– Crossing of non Local Streets is allowed at intersections
– Crossing of non Local Streets with more than one lane in each direction is allowed only at intersections with a traffic signal or 4-way stop sign
– May not be operated on sidewalks or trails
Violations of the ordinance are subject to penalty up to $500 for each offense, in addition to any penalties for violation of other applicable State law.
